Bishop’s Scholarship Fund (BSF) – Diocesan Level – Grades K-8

The Mission of the BSF is to help families in need

afford a Catholic education.

BSF Application Opens 2/1/25!
    • Families apply online via FACTS Grant & Aid, complete all questions regarding BSF, submit supporting tax documentation and a $35 ($5 increase) FACTS processing fee.
    • The application requires the entire 2023 or 2024 IRS Federal tax returns along with 2024 W2s. If applicants do not receive W-2s, then they must submit a 2024 tax return.
    • Deadline to apply - March 15 for current families; April 15 for new families
    • Award notifications – early May for current families; late May for new families
    • K-8 only (Transitional Kindergarten (TK/JK/PK5) is not Kindergarten and therefore not eligible for BSF).
    • Sibling Consideration Awards are being eliminated given the discounts individual schools provide families. In the past, if a family with multiple children did not qualify for need-based tuition assistance, they could qualify for a $300 BSF award for older K-8 sibling(s). Sibling awards are no longer available. Please consider communicating this change with families who have received sibling awards in the past.

    • DOB Tuition Remission Program - The Scholarship Committee agrees that FIE should not provide tuition assistance grants to Diocese of Bridgeport employees eligible to apply for the Tuition Remission Program. The mission of Bishop’s Scholarship Fund is to help families afford a Diocesan elementary school in Fairfield County. The tuition remission benefit significantly decreases the obligation of the employee; thus their need eligibility is minimized if not eliminated.
